Clúster Agrotech Canarias and the publicly owned company Gestión y Planeamiento Territorial y Medioambiental (Gesplan) have formalised a framework cooperation agreement to create new opportunities for development, cooperation and international expansion in the Canary Islands’ primary sector.
The agreement was signed by the president of Clúster Agrotech Canarias, Federico Cuyás Redondo, and Gesplan’s chief executive, Miguel Ángel Pérez. It will remain in force for four years and establishes a framework for cooperation between the two organisations, with no direct financial commitments arising from its signing.
Gesplan, a publicly owned company attached to the Government of the Canary Islands’ Ministry of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water, is adding the Clúster to its network of strategic partnerships, strengthening the connection between public sector capabilities and the archipelago’s business and technology ecosystem.
New opportunities for cooperation and international expansion
The agreement sets out several areas of action to support the development of joint initiatives and broaden opportunities for the Canary Islands’ agricultural sector.
Its main objectives include attracting sustainable projects and investment backed by international funding, promoting public–private cooperation and developing business training and skills programmes for national and international tendering.
The two organisations also plan to share knowledge, technical resources and experience, establish coordination and monitoring mechanisms, and promote access to public and private funding for initiatives of mutual interest.
These activities aim to create new opportunities for cooperation and development that draw on the business, technological and knowledge capabilities available in the Canary Islands.
Connecting capabilities to create opportunities
The agreement forms part of Clúster Agrotech Canarias’ strategy to connect businesses, primary sector organisations, research centres and public authorities, promoting collaborative projects and bringing innovation closer to local needs.
Gesplan, in turn, contributes its experience in spatial planning and management, sustainability, project development and international expansion.
The partnership provides a framework for identifying shared initiatives, facilitating access to funding opportunities and raising the profile of the Canary Islands’ agritech ecosystem.
Through this agreement, the two organisations lay the foundations for future activities that help strengthen the competitiveness and capabilities of the islands’ primary sector.
